Why Language Matters in Booking
Booking a service requires trust. Reading detailed information about services, prices, and cancellation policies in a language you don't fully understand erodes that trust. If a French-speaking client lands on an English-only booking page, the friction is real — and many will simply leave rather than struggle through the form.
For businesses in tourism, wellness, hospitality, or any industry that attracts international visitors, a multilingual booking page isn't a luxury — it's a baseline requirement.
Languages BookPoint Supports
BookPoint's public booking page and embedded widget are available in seven languages:
- 🇬🇧 English
- 🇷🇴 Romanian
- 🇩🇪 German
- 🇫🇷 French
- 🇪🇸 Spanish
- 🇮🇹 Italian
- 🇭🇺 Hungarian
The language covers the full booking experience: service names and descriptions, the booking form fields and labels, error messages, confirmation screens, and automated notification emails.
How Language Detection Works
When a visitor opens your booking page or triggers the widget, BookPoint automatically detects their browser's language preference. A German visitor sees the page in German without having to do anything. If you want to force a specific language (e.g., you share a link in a French-speaking forum), you can append ?lang=fr to your booking URL.
The language switcher is also visible on every booking page — visitors can override the auto-detected language manually.
Multilingual Service Names and Descriptions
You can enter your service names and descriptions in multiple languages directly from the BookPoint dashboard. When a French-speaking visitor opens your booking page, they see your service names translated — not just the UI labels, but your actual content. This is particularly valuable for businesses with descriptive service offerings (e.g., a spa with treatment packages or a tour company with excursion descriptions).
Notification Emails in the Client's Language
Confirmation and reminder emails are sent in the language the client used during booking. A Hungarian client booking through your German-language default page will receive their confirmation and reminder in Hungarian if they switched the page to that language. The correct template is selected automatically — no manual work needed.
Widget Language Configuration
For the embedded widget, you can set a default language via the data-lang attribute on the script tag:
<script src="https://bookpoint.net/widget/v1/loader.js"
data-tenant="your-slug"
data-lang="de"></script>
This forces the widget to open in German, overriding browser auto-detection. Useful for businesses that serve a predominantly single-language clientele from an otherwise multilingual environment.
